About the tournament


The Israeli Chess Federation and the city of Netanya welcome the participants of the International Chess Festival on June 23nd – July 2nd 2019!

 

 The festival consists of two main events: A crown group, The Masters and Netanya Open tournament. The venue for all events is The V.I.P main hall in Netanya Football Stadium, Hamaccabiah street, Netanya

The Masters

 

Netanya Masters is a round robin invitational tournament with 10 players of which five are world class players and the other five are the Israeli top ones.

The average rating of 2678 makes a category 18 tournament, arguably the strongest classical chess event ever to be held in Israel.

The total prize fund in the Masters is 100 thousands US dollars. The first prize is 25, 000 US dollars.

Rate of play: For each player 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the first move

Tie break: in case of equal points for several players, the places in the final table would be set according to:1) Berger System,2) result between players.

The prizes would be split in accordance with Hort System

The Open Tournament

 

The open section is open to all and will be held in the same venue with the same schedule. Prize fund is 170 thousand Israeli Shekels. More details will be posted here soon. Stay tuned!
